Zeynep Çelik Alexander

Zeynep Çelik Alexander is Assistant Professor at the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. She is an architectural historian whose work focuses on the history and theory of modern architecture since the Enlightenment. Alexander is completing a book titled An Epistemological History of Aesthetic Modernism. A second research project, funded by SSHRC, explores the histories of technologies that have come to dominate contemporary design disciplines. Alexander’s writings have appeared in several edited volumes as well as in journals including Harvard Design Magazine, Grey Room, Journal of Design History, and Centropa. She received a B.Arch. from Istanbul Technical University, M.Arch. from Harvard and a Ph.D. from MIT. She is an editor of the journal Grey Room.
